Play and Talk Therapy
Kristin offers individual therapy for children and teens. She utilizes play therapy techniques with children and provides a safe space for them to process their emotions and learn more about themselves.
Play therapy differs from regular play—Kristin utilizes both client centered play therapy and directive play therapy interventions, including Sandtray therapy, with her clients to allow them to work through issues that are often too difficult to process through talking alone. For older children and teenagers, a combination of play therapy and traditional talk therapy, geared to their developmental level, is utilized.
Because Kristin has an attachment-based lens in her approach with clients, parental involvement (as appropriate) is encouraged and welcomed in therapy with children and teens.
In addition, Kristin specializes in working with children who have experienced trauma and uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) protocols developed specifically for younger clients.
