People seek counseling for a myriad of reasons. Regardless of what has led you to this path, I believe that the insights you gain through counseling can result in increased understanding of yourself. Counseling is a safe place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings and allows you the opportunity to develop and practice new ways of viewing yourself and others. I believe that no one person exists as an isolated individual. This means that people are part of a greater unit--a family community. The work that occurs in counseling results in changes not only to yourself, but your relationship with others. I utilize a person centered and cognitive behavioral approach to therapy. This means that I accept my clients as they are and help them to recognize and change disruptive and negative thought patterns so that they gain a better understanding of themselves. Some techniques may utilize cognitive restructuring, thought stopping, behavioral changes, sandplay, and EMDR.
