About Me

I have a Masters of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of North Carolina.  I received my undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University in the field of Biology with a special concentration in Genetics.  In addition, I am pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist.  I have four years experience in the field of counseling and have a special interest in working with children with emotional issues such as anxiety, attachment, trauma, and adjustment issues.  I also work with individual adults, couples, and families.  Prior to entering the counseling field I spent three years as an advocate for victims of domestic violence and worked for two years in a genetics laboratory.   I have completed level one training in the Gottman method of couples therapy and have been trained in the EMDR protocol, which is utilized for trauma reprocessing.  I currently hold memberships with the American Counseling Association, the North Carolina Association of Play Therapy, and I am a National Certified Counselor.
